CHAPTER 6- Adding & Subtracting Fractions

REGULAR MATH
Week of January 7 - 11

Monday:     Review Chapter 6 lesson 1 -Rounding fractions and mixed numbers.   Text reference pages 218 - 221. Students will write journal notes with examples and practice with dry erase boards.  Absent students from December will make up THINK LINK TEST today.
HOMEWORK:    pp. 605 lesson 6-1#s 8 - 28 even only.

Tuesday:      Classes will review homework and continue practice of rounding fractions to the nearest half.  Students will use lesson 1 to now  estimate sums and differences with fractions and mixed numbers in lesson 2. Text reference pages 223-225.  Later, class will begin review THINK LINK TEST if time allows.
HOMEWORK:    p. 605 lesson 6-2 #s 8 - 28 even only.

Wednesday:   Classes will review homework and continue practice with estimating sums and differences.  Classes will also continue review of Think Link test 2 and the results will come home today for parent review and signature.  In lesson 3, students will preview adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with the same denominators.  Examples and journal notes will be provided.
HOMEWORK:    NONE

Thursday:    Review lesson 3: adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with like denominators.  Text reference pages 228 - 231.
HOMEWORK:      Mid Chapter 6 Practice page 232 #s 3 - 16.

Friday:   Review homework and later students will take Mid- Chapter Quiz of lessons 1 -3 in Chapter 6.  If time allows, students will add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators in lesson 4.  Text reference pages 235 - 37.
